Abigail Gamble, PhD, MS is an implementation scientist and community-engaged interventionist in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson, Mississippi. She serves as the Director of Research and Community Engagement for Myrlie Evers-Williams Institute for the Elimination of Health Disparities at UMMC and directs the Implementation Science Lab in the John D. Bower School of Population Health – one of the only research labs of its kind in the Deep South. Dr. Gamble’s current research focuses on the prevention and treatment of cardiometabolic diseases among vulnerable populations, including racial and ethnic minority perinatal adolescents, Medicaid beneficiaries, and medically underserved and rural residents. She has served as principal investigator or co-PI as PI of 10 research grants from NIH, HRSA, CDC, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and other public and private funding agencies. Dr. Gamble is a New Jersey native, and the beautiful places and people of Mississippi are what make it home.
