Jessica Smith, MSW, LCSW-BACS

Jessica Smith is a dedicated and experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Board Approved Clinical Supervisor (LCSW-BACS) with 14 years of professional practice in social work. Currently, she is employed with the Department of Veterans Affairs in the Mental Health department, serving as a Suicide Prevention Coordinator. In this role, Jessica ensures that high-risk Veterans receive quality, enhanced care tailored to their unique needs. Jessica’s journey in social work began with a profound passion for helping others, cultivated through community service work with organizations like the United Way of Northeast Louisiana and the Girl Scouts of America. These early experiences in selfless service inspired her to pursue a career in social work, where she could make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Before joining the Department of Veterans Affairs, Jessica dedicated 13 years to the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services in Child Welfare. During her tenure, she held various roles, including Foster Care Specialist, Foster Care Supervisor, and Child Welfare Consultant. Her extensive experience in child welfare has equipped her with a deep understanding of the complexities and challenges faced by vulnerable populations. Jessica earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and her Master of Social Work from Grambling State University. Over the years, she has provided therapy to children, adults, couples, and families, empowering them to achieve their emotional and psychological goals.
Jessica is the owner and Lead Clinical Therapist at Vibrant Minds Therapy & Consulting in Shreveport, LA. In addition to her clinical practice, Jessica is passionate about mentorship and professional development within the social work field. She serves as a mentor and supervisor to aspiring social workers and mental health professionals, guiding them towards excellence in their practice. Jessica is committed to spreading mental health awareness, particularly among people of color. She believes in the importance of mental health education and strives to create a more inclusive and understanding society. Jessica’s dedication to her clients, her profession, and her community continues to drive her mission to make a positive impact in the field of mental health.
